The use of additional materials in the pockets serves to save weight and mainly for reinforcement, so that the pocket does not collapse. It is needed to reinforce the pocket in the back area and is used as an inside pocket. The irregular grain that occurs with this leather and the possible abrasion of the color are not a defect in the product, but the guarantee for the authenticity of the finely polished leather and the vegetable tanning. The signs of wear, such as scratches, that are also present on the brand-new bag are part of the "look" and in no way represent a defect.
Our advice on porous leather:
Leather is tanned animal skin. It is a natural product of unmistakable beauty with all its typical irregularities caused by scars and pigment defects. Each piece has its unique identity.
It is typical for these leathers that they show signs of wear or patina after a short time. This is a desired effect, so we recommend not using any care products at the beginning. The leather is oiled and/or waxed and therefore has sufficient protection.
A line with the fingernail immediately causes a light line, which only disappears a little after polishing. Surfaces that are frequently touched and/or rub against clothing are literally polished. These signs of wear that develop over time are part of the normal appearance of porous leather and support the creation of an absolutely individual companion.
